LCD-Where's the PLUG?

My Girlfriend Lives in Thailand, and She Recently decided that LCD was the Latest and Greatest and she Just HAD to have one. So She got one of these PC shops to Slap together a System for her pretty reasonable, P4 Intel Board,
she gets everything home and ready to Plug it all together, and she e-mails me "Where's the Plug for the LCD?" Apparently some LCD Monitors don't plug into the regular Display Ports.

I have always prefered CRTs because of the Sharpness and Resolution Quality, I work with Pics and Video, so LCD has never even entered my Mind until now.

So Now what? I Check My PC Repair Text Books, and No Word on the Subject.
I know Most of the Display Adapters are ON BOARD Now a Days, so why would they make an LCD Monitor that doesn't fit the Socket?

Any one want to give me some advice I can Pass on to My Girl about this?
I checked some other Sites they mentioned maybe an adapter Cord was required. Can anyone give me the Complete insight on LCD Monitor Hook up Troubleshooting? Does she Need a Special Video Card for LCD?
Enlighten me Please.

Thanks,
Mark*

I would guess that either her monitor or video card has a DVI connection instead of a standard VGA d-sub (old school 15 pin adapter).

If the LCD or video card only has DVI, then one of the two may need to be replaced. I think, though, that they make adapters for them.

If this is the case, and you have to get an adapter, you may have some clarity degradation. If you have a choice, replace the one without DVI and use the DVI connection. As stated in this thread earlier, it is the superior of the two connection types

Here's what a DVI connector looks like.

Here's a vga connector.

Sorry if i'm way off base here, but that is what it sounds like to me.

before i was looking at the Viewsonic's 19" VP series but its little pricey. so im looking at Philips 190S5FB 19" LCD with 12 ms for a $438 at newegg.
or maybe u can shell out 700 bucks for the 2005fpw from dell if money isnt a factor.
