A new Lenovo laptop was spotted at a recent company event in Beijing prior to any formal introduction. According to those present, the IdeaPad Z460 features a 14-inch 1366x768 display, a 2.13GHz Intel Core i3-330M processor, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5145 graphics, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 320GB hard drive, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, and Windows 7 Home Basic. That's about all the information currently available, but an official statement and further details are imminent.

Meanwhile, Sony teased its new VAIO "Ultra Mobile" notebook today in Japan. Although no significant clues were given about what to expect, a "proven" Engadget tipster says it's a new VAIO P, which jibes with FCC listings uncovered earlier this year. The source also said the orange paper clip in the image below actually represents a side shot of the laptop.

The existing P-series device costs a smooth $1,000 and features an 8-inch 1600x768 LED display, an Intel Atom and GMA 500, 2GB of RAM, a 64GB SSD, Verizon Mobile Broadband, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, two USB ports, a webcam, and Windows 7 Home Premium.

The P series is one of the more attractive netbooks around, IMO. I'll be waiting to see the new model.
