It’s been a long while since the first Crucial-branded SSD debuted, but Lexar Media is expanding their efforts today with a faster and more capacious line aimed at the high-end PC segment. Available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB models, the new Crucial M225 series use Serial ATA 3Gb/s interfaces and feature MLC NAND flash components operating in a standard 2.5-inch drive enclosure.

The flagship 256GB drive promises read and write speeds of up to 250MB/s and 200MB/s, respectively, while write speeds drop just a bit on the 128GB model to 190MB/s. The 64GB drive, meanwhile, reads at up to 200MB/s and writes at up to 150MB/s. The new drives come with a five year warranty and are priced pretty much in line with similar-performance offerings; at $170, $330 and $600 in order of capacity.

In addition, Lexar has also announced that all M225 drives are fully compatible with the company's SK01 External Drive Storage Kit, which will enable users to take advantage of the new SSDs in an external storage enclosure.
