After a recent rebuild of my HTPC

    PhenomII 940 x4 3ghz
    Asus M2n68 mobo
    2gb Crucial Ballistix DDR 1066
    Nvidia 9800GTX+ oc
    Creative Xfi titanium

Clean install of XP pro sp3 edition

I ran into the dreaded Bsod!

Strangely I could play all my latest games and run 3Dmark without problems.
The stop error happened mostly during web browsing.

Knowing Bsod are quite often memory related I swapped them out and tried as many other things as I could think of before banging my head on a desk!

Then I came across this site after some googling. Followed your link to the MS debugging tool and guide. Quickly educated myself on how to use it and hey presto....

CTAUD2K.sys Creative sound driver was the culprit.

So I could play all games watch my HD downloads in DTS and listen to all my MP3's with perfect sound but not surf the web without it crashing.

Just goes to show you never know where to look.

Anyway this site put me on the right path and my PC is working a treat.

A big thank you goes out to all from a happy member. Great work.

    Thanks for the warm welcome.
I've been building PC's since my first 286 with sound card and external cd attachment.
I'm also IT consultant for my company.
Not seen a blue screen since Win98 and was a bit out of touch.
I'd be happy to help out when and if I can. It will help keep the cobwebs out of my brain matter.
