Not by choice, but yes and it drives me crazy for the first hour I can't get online but then I forget about it and could probably stay away for a very long time. It's so addicting.
I just went 11 days with a total of 15 minutes "online" to check email. Didn't go anywhere except gmail, and had to pay for every minute of being online. I was on San Salvador island, Bahamas at a research base there.

It is addicting. That's why you have to kick the addiction. Because you only live once and having a virtual intimate relationship with your compute is a bit of a sickness - unless you have a physical disability that requires you to stay inside. For some people it takes time to kick it. Others never succeed...and thus lose out on life.
