Limited to no connectivity when connected with Ethenet

This is my first post so please forgive me if I don't give all the right information.

I'm trying to connect a desktop computer running xp to the internet and I'm getting limited to no connectivity though I am connected with a Ethernet cable.

I was able to connect to the internet in safe mode but that was it.

I'm not really sure what other information you need.

You have a program loaded that is interfering with your Internet connectivity. What antivirus/firewall are you using?
