  1. In XP, if I wanted to plug in microphone, to hear myself while talking to it, I was able to configure it through the mixer.
    for another example, I used to connect my guitar to my computer, and hear it with the computer's speakers..
    But in Vista...I can't
    I guess I need a small software ,gadget for doing this...
    thanks

    Not sure if this might be part of the problem.....

    Check what Sound Recording is doing Find it in Sound Control Panel (will be something like)
    => click Recording -> microphone -> Properties -> Advanced
    => Look for the option Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device It must be unchecked

    Still, need to have some kind of mixer

    I did it as you told me, but still, I can't hear it. I guess I need to make the microphone show up in the output mixer, but I don't know how to..
