I was just sayin... if I had unlimited funds I'd simply rather get the Mac Pro... But then again, I kind of like building my own just as well, and way cheaper. 8K would in fact get you a nice beastly machine easily, personally, I would rather spend half the money now and have some spare change to upgrade in the future, keep the system lifetime going.

does 7 support dual CPU's, or do you need Server 2008 for that?
That's a good question. It obviously supports multiple cores, but I do remember reading (on a Mac forum of all places) that Windows 7 Home is still single CPU only.

Despite any artificial limitations, Windows 7 architecture is quoted as supporting up to 256 CPUs... for what it is worth.

Wow! 19K! Why would someone spend this much on a computer! I dont see how this can be much better than a computer that costs about an 8th of the price!

Just the right PC for this time of recession. :) Though I'm pretty sure there'd be people who buy it.

I like that it doesn't have any lights, and the design is certainly interesting.

I know someone that built his own rig similar to this for about $15kAUS about six months ago. He went the extra mile and built his own case as well. The case alone was 30kg. It had a combination of water cooling and 8 silent fans. The short cut he took was only buying 4 vertex SSD drives in a raid configuration instead of intel SSD drives. The reason for the madness of building a machine worth so much was it is a hobby. I suppose everyone needs a hobby and all hobbies cost money.

19 Grand my god.. I can't even think to spent that much on desktop. But it could be ultimate dream pc if any one give me gift. I went to their site and tried to configure the desktop. While configuring i really felt good because lot of option to choose. I guess they have given all the best option to build a ultimate pc which money can buy. but definitely i can't buy this. 19K is more than half of my yearly salary.
But definitely it has become my dream pc with 3 display screen he he..

I managed to max it to $20,790 which includes 8 SSDs... seriously, how much of a percentage gain would that be in the real world over a decent self-build?

Overkill....

The Best Configuration Mac Pro you can build on the Apple Website costs $16,136.

Configuration:

Two 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
32GB (8x4GB) RAM
Mac Pro RAID Card
Four 1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drives
4x NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512MB
Two Apple Cinema HD Displays (30" flat panel)
Magic Mouse, Wireless Keyboard.

I'll take the Mac Pro over that SHIFT any damn day....

Have fun playing a game of Photoshop CS4 really fast with that.

i like the way it looks and it has some great parts but id rather build my rig at least i would know i put it together.

If the machine was able to last playing the current games for a long, long time it wouldn't be that big of a deal to spend 3,000 or 4,000 on a PC. Even with the crazy $19,000 PC, it's going to be outdated in a year and there will be much better hardware out. I generally go for one generation of hardware behind to save money and usually get 80% or more of the performance of the cutting edge. Seems like a better way to spend the money knowing how quickly the prices drop and the tech moves forward.

Who really has the money to buy one of these? Personally if was going to waste this much money on a PC I would build it myself so I can get whatever I want in it.

It's companies like this that give PC gaming a bad rap as being uber expensive. I could build an equivalent PC to the base configuration for about $600-700 including a fresh Windows install. Heck, I only spent $1,460 for my complete rig.

Xclio A380PLUS case
Apevia 700W PSU
Core i7 920
EVGA X58 SLI LE
Patriot triple channel 6GB DDR3
Western Digital 1TB HDD
XFX GeForce GTX 260
Samsung CD/DVD burner with lightscribe
Samsung 26" ToC HDTV monitor
Phillips amBX 2.1 complete sound system
Razer Lycosa keyboard

The tower itself was only $960.
