"We were already collaborating on 65-nanometer and 45-nanometer technology. Now we've also added joint development on 32-nanometer technology to the agreement." - Chris Andrews, an IBM spokesman

If you think that the 90nm process is pretty cool, think again: IBM and AMD have designs on bringing us chips based on a 32-nanometer process before too long.

IBM and AMD started working together in December 2002 with the end goal of making smaller, faster chips. They have since tacked a three-year extension onto their December 2002 collaboration agreement, and the end result could see the two firms working with a 32-nanometer process. The two companies will work together until at least the end of 2008.
