Malware - Need help

[JTC]

Hey guys (gals aswell) im a bit new to this so stick with me.

I suspect my computer is infected with malware, because I cannot change my desktop background. It is just a basic black background. I've read through other Threads about this problem, but the link to remove the adware and get my desktop back to normal didnt work. Any help/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the Panda Antirootkit scan.

If the online scan identified and deleted the malware, do i have to do the rest of the steps?

That`s completely upto you. However, without seeing the requested log files etc, there`s no way I can tell if your system is clean or not.

I advise you to follow all the instructions.
