Man sues Bethesda over 'Fallout 4' addiction

No they don't. They are delusional in thinking they can convince others, their inability to manage their time is someone Else's fault.
A few people burnt themselves on hair dryers sued and won. Now they all say caution hot. I can see this happening even though I don't agree with it. They will likely add a similar warning to games in the future.

The thing is though regardless of what they rule in Russia, it's not like it'll set any precedent since no one really pays attention to them and or that they're the equivalent of a classroom court in the law world. Unless the Cold War is still brewing in the mind of the judge and others overseeing this, I doubt it'll even survive there.

Here in CT we have that stuff happening a the time. A man tripped and broke his foot or something last year while breaking into and robbing the house of an old woman. It lasted in the lower courts for longer than it should've...

I'd use more harsh examples relevant to your joke from my wonderful oh so glorious state, but can't be bothered to.
Of course. Here in SA these kind of things are normal. A well placed (and not so well placed) bribe opens a lot of well secured doors. It's the most important unwritten rule of our constitution. All our politicians are bought and paid for and the next time we get someone with a bit of brains and does something for the good of everyone will be the second one, only one up til now has been Madiba. The rest are just stupid goons and well dressed thugs.

There's a lot of people making up stuff or not getting there facts right on cases , usually when something begins " some ridiculous thing happened and someone sued and won..." actually turn out to be complete nonsense. At least spend 5 minutes reading the facts of a case before repeating something that's simply not true...

Bah Humbug! Facts merely slow down the creative process when you're working on op-ed pieces such as we are here. Not everyone is born with the makings of an academic, but we are all born with an opinion, along with a manifest destiny to distribute it to a world full of hungry ears.

That being said, I honestly don't believe the woman at McDonald's had any right to sue over hot coffee. Now, if a waitress had poured a pot of it over her head, then yeah, maybe. But really, have you ever tried to find a waitress at McDonald's when you needed one? That's not bloody likely to happen.

I'm still playing NetHack (now ver. 3.43), a game in ASCII graphics that I began to play in 1992, and I can't let it go, so addictive... Yeah sure once I flunked an exam because of this, but never have I thought about suing the developers, it was my sole responsibility as a young adult. "Testing grounds"? Those lawyers are so cupid they'd like everyone to behave like children... They'd want people to let go their "good sense" and settle any tiny-stupid "difference" in a courtroom.

Alcoholics can't sue the breweries for producing an addictive beverage, people addicted to cigarettes can't sue the Tobacco industry (well they could for a while and I'm sure some still do)
Not true, people have sued Morris, even states, and they all won. You just can't compare between a game, and other products that are chemically addictive (thus against which an addiction becomes uncontrollable). Especially when manufacturers are themselves looking up for ways to chemically ignite their customers addiction, targeting a mountain of sales over getting their clients ill (chemically addicted... Here I'm talking about cigarettes - it's not as easy to become addicted to alcohol).

That lady got really burned and she only got paid for the damage and the rest went in lawers fee and what not.
And if that makes sense to you, you should be able to go out and crash your car while texting or talking and driving, then sue the phone manufacturer and your carrier. That should bring a windfall of damages. So while the lady in question did in fact, receive significant injuries, her triumph did also open the flood gates of frivolous lawsuits.

If I were the defendant's lawyer, I would have argued that a frail 87 year old shouldn't have been playing with hot coffee without assistance anyway. Then accordingly, enjoined her 'caretakers" in a defamation suit about their negligence. You know, it is negligent to allow an 87 year old to play with scalding hot coffee in the first place, let alone do so in the front seat of a possibly moving car.

McDonald's is responsible for the suit going forward, by refusing to settle at a reasonable amount offered before trial.

After that outcome, and I were at McDonald's, I serve the garbage stone cold, and the the buyers heat it themselves.

Besides, the trouble with holding coffee at such high temperatures (190F), more than the possibility of yourself being burnt, is that it always tastes burnt by the time you drink it.
