    I wants to know what is mean by " A Record " & PTR Record ,

    I came across this technical words while studing Win 2000 server dumps. I would like to know about this records and what is there use in Network

    With those two terms together they are about DNS.

    A record in DNS sense is an entry in the DNS database that ties an IP address to a domain name. You use it when you want to find an IP that is behind some domain name.
    PTR record is the reverse of record. It lets you find the domain name for an IP address.
