  1. Microsoft Buys Motion-Sensing Firm Canesta

    If you guys remember, last year Canesta reported that it is developing technology to compete with Microsoft's 'Project Natal'; the technology consisted of CMOS 3D camera chip providing real-time, 3D 'Depth Map' of surrounding area, allowing cameras to see in 3D. These chips were supposed to be used in PCs / Notebooks / TVs / Consoles / Mobiles etc.

    This news bit also says this may have to do something with Windows 8 as well; but I think application of this technology will obviously be extended to many other areas including mobiles.
