This whole thing is actually pretty funny. Imagine WIN8 having a 'always on' requirement - what would the masses do then?

MS has not 'officially' stated one way or the other on these 'issues', I think its all a marketing ploy to drum up free press - imagine how 'good' MS becomes if/when the new box does NOT require an always on internet connection?

Remember when 'everyone' wanted an iPhone and only AT&T offered it. If you had bad or no AT&T service in your area you were SOL. To some that made them WANT the silly device even more cause they could not get it. Don't have an 'always on internet connection'? There's always that SECOND CLASS box that Sony makes.

Same. It is one of those things where I am personally not affected by it but it still ticks me off a little because what if I want to bring my Xbox to the lake? I live in Minnesota and I am in rural areas often, although my home has a very fast cable connection. Also what if the internet goes down? It is rare but why is it necessary to just be cut off from all entertainment?

His attitude really just puts it over the edge.

  3. My contribution to this matter:

    I rest my case.

  4. Heh just more proof M$ knows nothing about entertainment.

Diablo 3 & the new Simcity? Never bought 'em, and I will not support them and it feels incredibly good.
  5. I'm reading through all the comments above, and it completely astounds me that everyone is blowing this so far out of proportion. You are all acting as if ONE person speaks for an entire multi-BILLION dollar company.

Besides .. regardless if what he says is true or not. Microsoft is GOING to make millions of dollars when the 720 (or whatever its called) is released. People are GOING to buy it. Period. End of Discussion.

I noticed the topic update comment from Microsoft didn't deny the "Always On-line Connection" rumor. To me that as good as confirming the rumor of at least considering the "Always On-line Connection".
  8. Smh people dont use the thing called BRAIN in there heads. "Always on" your laptop or computer is always on unless you turn it off, With the ethernet or wireless still active. Things still run in the background, putting your PC or laptop in sleep mode to conserve power and battery life. Things still run in the background in sleep mode because its "Always on". The new Xbox is merely a form of a Laptop and people aren't realizing that. No way they can stop used game, unless they stop making CD's to sell on the shelves. Damn people dont use there brains. Just shut up and wait for the announcement so that you can crawl back on the Microsoft bandwagon and pay that damn Xbox live Gold subscription like everyone else. It pays to play
