Soon, you'll see a headline called "Microsoft introduces annual subscription fee for all Windows 10 users".
when people don't know the meaning of "ignorant"...
just by saying that they are charging you proves that...
oh, who the hell cares if someone misinformed doesn't want to upgrade. good for you dude.
Just install and run SpyBot Anti-Beacon. It turns off all telemetry so your OS does not talk to Microsoft at all. Heck, I can't even go to Bing.com anymore, it blocks it in the host file.
"Luckily, disabling the ads is very simple. Simply go to Settings..."
so where's the issue?
What ads did Hitler show in the showers then? hmmm? The issue is that your seeing ads turned on by default for an operating system that you paid for. You can disable it now but who's to say that you won't be able to in the future or that microsoft won't charge you money in the future? This is Hitler's approach. You take a little of their freedom away at a time and then when they are in your grasp you screw them over as much as possible.
Nothing you say will change my mind, it's your choice to believe what you want to believe. You can call me weird, misinformed, whatever you like, I can care less, I'm not using Windows 10 because of it.
I rest very easy knowing I'm not using Windows 10, but personally I see my OS data-mining my personal data and charging me to do so very stupid indeed, if you don't, well that's your choice to be ignorant.
People like yourself just make it that much easier for Microsoft to do what they do...
The MS' intention is the issue."Luckily, disabling the ads is very simple. Simply go to Settings..."
so where's the issue?
You cannot have an operating system doing data-mining.Look, I'm not saying Windows 10 doesn't collect telemetry, they really do, but the scale you guys are talking about is shear lunacy. Take a look at this article which is actually the author retracting unfounded claims about windows 10 that he never confirmed and simply believed because, well... It's Microsoft so they HAVE to be the bad guys, right?

You are afraid of Cortana taking your voice? lol are you also afraid of cameras stealing your soul? You cannot have an operating system doing data-mining.
Microsoft got their reputations by cheating from the old days. For example, the Netscape scandal. Now they continue with their tendency. They can't change. So, it's useless to expect something different from a company based on delusion.
Now we have to tolerate this rubbish only because of DirectX 12... not that we are in love with Cortana taking even our voice if we're distracted. Such cheaters! But the end of the MS era will come to an end. It's about time. Till then, patience and disable all their garbage.
Their intention is to give you ads about things you are interested in if you want to see ads about things you are interested in and allow you to turn it off if you are not interested in seeing them. The MS' intention is the issue.
There's over 4x more people on Win7 than Win10 (>52% of the whole desktop market vs less than 12%). And all their "specific programs" work. Please clarify what your definition of "odd" is? I certainly think at this stage, it is more odd to lose the ability to run programs I want to run than run Win10 which for most of the market, have not any reason to go there.Actually, that number is probably under 50%, maybe even lower. Windows 10 is actually great once you turn off the telemetry. The only reason not to use it would be very specific programs not working. General computing and gaming will not have these problems 99% of the time. People still on Windows 7 look exactly like the people who were still on XP when 7 dropped. Odd.
Right! Lets compare ads of choice to this BS! And just so we are clear I don't advertise at all. If I do it is by conversation. The same people that are so against ads are often the same ones wearing printed tee shirts, shoes with big logos on them, a phone with a big logo on the back for all to see, and go eat at places that use giant billboards to advertise and they never see the correlation.

Did you notice that your name was never mentioned? I said "often the same people"... not even always.Right! Lets compare ads of choice to this BS! And just so we are clear I don't advertise at all. If I do it is by conversation.
Oh, those emblems aren't for advertising, they're to help identify the car in case it's involved in a hit and run.FYI, you do advertise if you drive a car with a manufacturer's emblem on it, etc. You are just unaware that's what you are doing.
I was speaking about MS only, in my comment. You are afraid of Cortana taking your voice? lol are you also afraid of cameras stealing your soul? You cannot have an operating system doing data-mining.

What do you think of Amazon's Echo? Pretty darned scary, huh?

At least you're not overreacting.

To draw a parallel, when your OS boots, it says, "Windows XP", etc,. Same Difference. You car announces its brand in the same way.
Now, should your boot screen say, "eat at Joe's", then you have an entirely different issue. That would be "advertising".
It doesn't really matter. Advertising your name on a product is not the same as advertising/sponsoring for someone else.Is that really true about the police and logo's I would have thought that would be brand marketing 101
BS, there is no law against removing a manufacturers emblem, the license plate is what is used to identify a vehicle.Oh, those emblems aren't for advertising, they're to help identify the car in case it's involved in a hit and run.
