Microsoft Offic issue

Hi all. Please help me to solve my problem with Microsoft Project 2010 (MP)

I have created mpp format file in MP. Now when Itry to open it get this error: "Project cannot recognize this file format". So my question is,how to repair mpp file?
Hopefully someone will be able to help me with this.

Did you create one OUTSIDE MP or is this a saved project file?
