Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast Free 5.0?

I need to keep one of the following two on my pc. Which do you recommend

1) Microsoft Security Essentials

2) Avast Free 5.0

BTW, Avast 5.0 keeps popping up warnings of attempted exploits, despite the fact that there is an option “Do not show this message again”.

I don't know what the fuss is all about using third-party AV. I use the MSE on everything from XP Pro to Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit and 64-bit. On Windows Genuine License OS Client. Can't be used on Server OS. The program is free and it:

1. updates with Windows updates or on it's own
2. finds all the pest and can detect ones that try to get on the system through browser cache
3.it just works and it's free.

I just use Windows firewall and MSE along with IOBIT Advance System Care (set to auto care) That's it nothing else on all the OS Clients.
