Wonder if you can upgrade to it from the CP? Were you able to update the DP to the CP? I've got quite a few hours on my 8 CP install and it would be a shame to have to clean install this, upgrade would be much nicer.

    ...DP...CP......*childish snicker

I agree though it would be great to have an upgrade option from CP to RP. I must admit that Metro has grown on me as well.

DP > CP upgrade was not officially supported.
I would not recommend it personally, if you really want to test it properly.
Since it risks to carry over bugs from CP > RP
These kinds of bugs occurring during such an upgrade would not be relevant for the RC testing stage...

I just now started using windows 7 on my machine....
Hmmmm I will wait a few years..
I have Dual booter, Win XP Pro 64, and Wnd 7 Ultimate On the Machine...
    I will Wait..
    When there SP comes out..
    For Win 8...
Maybe I will Skip Win 8..
  7. Metro interface was designed to be a failure right from the start, so bring it on another Vista soon to be thrown away, no wonder why Vista support has ceased way before Windows XP since it was trash, I guess history will repeat itself this time too. lol
  8. Why don't they just call Windows 8 "Windows ME 2" and be done with it. What "Start"ed out as the next great Microsoft renaissance will turn out to be a devastating failure based on a few simple blunders.

Metro UI hasn't won me over yet. I can see where it would look great on a tablet, maybe that's the future, but I'm looking at a desktop experience that makes Metro difficult to appreciate.

Touch Keyboards like Logitech's K400 might make the experience a bit better. Only time will tell.

Here's to hoping you can disable the Metro UI in the RP.

I didn't try this, because I clean installed 8 CP. But, there was an option in 8 CP to keep Windows settings, personal files, and apps. The other options were 'just files' and 'nothing'. I suppose if the CP to RP allows to keep files that would be ok, but it would be great if I could keep the apps too.

  12. looking forward to it!

Same time as the Prometheus. Which one you will likely attend though?

    :) :) :)
  14. I upgraded from the developer preview to the consumer preview, so my guess is the June release should also be upgradable.
