Microsoft Word 2003 experienced an error trying to open the file..?

Ok so I have this really impotant word document that I finally finished
but i went to save it to my USB, microsoft word said it needed to shut down and then quit out before it saved.
I initially thought it would come up in recovery, but it didnt.
So i tried opening it from the recently opened documents task pane but it came up with this meesage

Word experienced an error trying to open the file
Try these suggestions
*Check the file permissions for the document or drive
*Make sure there is sufficient free memory space and disk space
*Open with the text recovery converter

But the trouble is I dont know where it has gone...
so I cant open it with the text recovery converter
and my original on my usb has gone and my original on my hardrive is an old version and hasn't been updated.

is there a program I can get to get it back at all?

I have very little experience with these issues but have you used your Search function found in your Start Menu? Use the Files and Folders option and the key word or words and let it search.

It might find your lost document. Its worth a shot.
