Minor Problem

Can anyone tell me how to restore desktop shortcuts that have been deleted by accident? I emptied my recycle bin and then discovered that the shortcuts i had pinned to the start menu no longer work. I haven't defraged or anything. But just don't know how to get them back. Any help will be most appreciated

I am not sure if you lost Desktop sc's or Start Menu sc's BUT, if you press Start, All Programs and then find a program you want a sc for just right click and make a sc then drag that to the Desktop.
