Missing Drive Icons in WinXP...

  1. Hi All,

I got a weird one for you guys. I am missing some drive icons. I can see the C:/ and D:/, F:/ drives that are my two CD/DVD drives, but all other icons dont pop up.

For example, when I insert a Flash drive, the drive is accepted, but it doesnt pop up in My Computer. If I do a manual search in explorer for G:, H: etc... I can usually find it. I also use DaemonTools quite a lot and those drives dont show up either.

The only thing I've been thinking is I installed TuneUp Utilities 2004 and changed the folder icons with it, but I've dont it before without this problem...

    Any ideas?

Do you have any (unused) mapped network drives? Their drive-letters might 'occupy' the spaces that are missing.

No mapped network drives. I get around the problem by making shortcuts to drive letters up to K:, hoping that whenever I put a USB Flash in or something, that it will pop up on one of those...

I'm gonna try a WindowsXP repair some point tonite, just in case...

Get TweakUI free from the MS Powertoys.
In there you can tick/untick to show which drives you want to see.
