Mobo and CPU overclocking?

    Temp very high

    CPU
    Intel Pentium 4
    531 sl8hz malay
    3.00GHZ/1M/800/04A

    mobo
    Asus Ai Proactive
    P5GD1-HVM/S
    Intel 915 P chipset
    Just started up the above cpu and mobo it seems to be heating up very high???any ideas how to check what is wrong?i defo put enough thermal compound on to!

    Too much thermal compound acts like an insulator, so take the CPU/Fan apart and clean off the old thermal paste. Re-apply a small pea sized amount of paste in the center and use the edge of a plastic credit card and wipe it across the CPU die (metal top of the CPU) to make a thin uniform coating of thermal compound without any over-spill onto the rest of the CPU
