Monitor to TV?

Hi there-
Is there a device/etc (or is it even possible) to run your computer through to your television? If so, what hardware is needed to do this? I'd assume some sort of conversion box?

I wonder because my computer is my DVD player .

If you have a video card with some TV-out function, all you need is a proper cable.
If you have a kickass TV with VGA or DVI input, all you need is a proper cable.
