I have an HP tower I've been given to find out what the problem is. It freezes sometimes at the very first HP blue screen, and at other times indicates cannot find proper boot device message. I went into setup, and found that nothing at all is being seen in terms of SATA connections. 1st drive through the 4th drive indicate that there is nothing at all connected. I currently have the hard drive, and two DVD drives hooked up to the SATA motherboard connections. I've scanned both the hard drive and RAM for integrity. Both test good. So ultimately I am thinking the motherboard is toast, and perhaps a power surge is responsible. Any thoughts?
