Motorola’s "Faster. Thinner. Smarter. Stronger." event just wrapped up with the mobility company unveiling two new mobile products, Motoactv and the Droid RAZR smartphone.
Motoactv is a new exercise companion that merges fitness and music into a device that looks like an iPod Nano. The sweat-proof unit tracks running, walking and cycling statistics and has an integrated GPS unit to trace routes. Users can record and monitor calories burned as well as heart rate. You can store up to 4,000 songs and there is also an FM radio and an Audio coach built-in.
Motoactv is powered by a 600MHz processor, runs Android and weighs only 35 grams. Two Bluetooth headsets are available as additional accessories for the device that could become the replacement for your Nike+. Pricing is $249 for an 8GB model and $299 for a 16GB unit. Look for Motoactv to drop on November 6 through Motorola.com and major retailers.
Motorola also officially launched the Droid RAZR which leaked out yesterday. As per the leak, the handset features Corning Gorilla Glass, has a stainless steel frame with Kevlar on the back and includes a dual core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, a 4.3-inch display and an 8MP camera. The 7.1mm thin device is capable of producing 12.5 hours of talk time and 8.9 hours of video playback. The phone can also access Moto Cast, a “personal cloud” that let’s you share files in the cloud.
The 4G LTE Droid RAZR will launch through Verizon Wireless in the US with a wealth of optional accessories including screen and keyboard docks and portable chargers. Pre-orders begin on October 27 with availability around the globe starting in November.
There was no sign of Ice Cream Sandwich or a Xoom 2 tablet at the event. Look for ICS to make an appearance tonight during Samsung and Google's event in Hong Kong which is scheduled to take place at 10pm ET in the US.
