  1. Back in the W95 days I used MSWord everyday. Recently a friend re introduced me to it on a W10 pc & so I went looking for it on my W10 but couldn't find it. Is there a free download for it or does it cost$$$$??

FYI - MS Word has never been free - I think the app you saw back in the day that was free was Wordpad.

You're exactly right as I "flashback", is it still free/available?

    Yes

Start Menu > All Apps > Windows Accessories > WordPad
    C:\Windows\System32\write.exe

You have the option of pinning (either Start Menu or Taskbar) it if you wish.

A search for either "write" or "wordpad" will return what you seek.

Hi, If this is still relevant, a few months ago I found this program, free to download and use, which is very similar to 'Word' in style, as it was in MS Office suite, around the time of Win 95 or 98 or XP, and it might be what you were/are looking for.

I have used this for a while and I like it. Many thanks to the author, R.Richardson.
(It's useful as it works with .doc & .docx.)
I also used 'Word' back in the late 90s and after, not on my home PC though, and I thought it was actually part of Windows O/S, but of course is wasn't, it was bought and installed separately, at cost.
Unless you bought the Pro version you wouldn't get 'Outlook' for email either, if I remember rightly.
