I'm having a problem with Vista not being able to find a hard drive.

my MB is the MSI K9A2 CF V.2

When I enter the bios, it finds both sata drives there, seagate barracuda 320 gb sata drive and asus dvd sata drive. But when I do a clean install of vista, it can't find the hard drive. When I tried to use the drivers that msi provided for vista it couldn't find a compatible driver for the hardware. When I downloaded the most recent drivers from the msi website it found compatible drivers for the hardware, but it still wouldn’t find the hard drive.

It’s the latest vista home premium 64bit with sp1.

I have no clue as to why it won’t recognize the drive.

interesting this is, vista has no problem finding the sata dvd palyer.

Why 64 bit? 4GB ram?

coulde be that the drive doesent support 64bit(if thats possible) as i have no idea what the difference in 64 and 32 is other than that 32bit supports 3.2GB ram and 64 supports i think 8

yep you need vista 64bit to be able to use all 4GB of ram. i have the other 4 GB just waiting to be installed, I just want it to read the hard drive first
