Multi errors on Vista... help!

I booted up my computer and two things were wrong that I noticed. My WLAN says "Connection status: Unknown" and below that it says, "Server Execution failed"

The second thing is when I try to play a cd... it doesn't work. It says along the lines of, "Unknown error".

The computer is an HP labtop running Vista that I just got for Christmas. I used windows update one time and all of a sudden I get these errors like... the next day.

What in the hell is going on?

Well I'm guessing it must of have something to do with those updates. They probably had bugs or something to that effect. I don't have Vista, but I guess you could try a system restore and see what happens?
