My friend and I both are connected to the Internet via cable modem that also goes through a router. This had led to some problems in trying to directly play an game with each other, mainly due to the generic IP address. Any suggestions on how to overcome this?

Hey...if it isn't too much trouble...can one of the forum moderators put this into the gaming open board...I thought that is the window I had open but apparently I was mistaken. Thanks!

You will have to forward the correct port to the correct computer on the LAN on the router in the server end. You will find the port number in the game manual.

The one connecting to the server must use the internet address of the router in the server end. You can find out the address from router setup or connecting to website like http://www.whatismyip.com from the server machine.
