Hi, I've just bought a Formac 250gb usb 2.0 external hard drive from ebuyer but when i plug it into my machine it's not recognised in any way other than under 'safely remove hardware'.
It's not shown under my computer or in disc management. I've tried plugging it in different usb slots (all of which work fine with other devices) but no luck.
When i first hooked it up the little bubble came up in the bottom right corner sayin 'found new hardware' followed by 'your new hardware is now installed and ready to use'.
I tried plugging into a slightly newer computer and it works fine so the problem must be somewhere on my machine.
I'm running XP SP2 but i heard somewhere that older (slower) machines can't register large external hard drives. I'm only running an AMD 1.21GHz processor with 384Mb RAM. Is this too slow or is there something else that it could be? There are no mimim system requirements on the box / instructions etc.
Any help would be very much apreciated!
