My computer keeps freezing and crashing!

In August the fan on my computer blew, so my stepfather ordered a new one and installed it himself. Ever since my computer freezes on random websites, the most popular ones are
Myspace
YouTube
AZLyrics
Or if I am running photoshop pro, it will freeze. Also sometimes it will the moniter will go blank, and i will have to restart. Oh & when it freezes i can't even do CNTL+ALT+DEL

My computer was originally a Windows ME, but my stepfather upgraded to windows XP

Hopefully some+ne can help me in fixing this problem, i have mentoned to my stepfather but he says there is nothing wrong with it.

Hi misscassiechaos and welcome to TechSpot

Number one is to get your computer running a little faster (and smoother)

Download and Run CCleaner from HERE
Fully clean out all the junk from your computer

Then Download and Run Startup Control Panel from HERE
Go through the startup entries and disable (untick) any not required to start with Windows
Restart once complete (startup entries are just shortcuts, not the actual program itself)

Obviously update your AntiVirus software

Then lastly run a full Defrag, from Accesories - System Tools

Please run the Internet after that, and re-confirm any lockups.
