hi...complete newb here who is not good with computers

i have just gone on wireless internet for the first time
i went with o2 and they sent me a router. my PC will not work without the cable. I think i need a usb adaptor. my question is...can i get a usb adaptor from anywhere or get one form the o2 shop. And does the internet speed depend at all on the usb adaptor.

my other question is ...is a usb adaptor better than a pci card?

    many thanks
    dan
