Have you just bought the hard drive? - if so where did you buy it from?

You state you want 'your files' so i am guessing the HDD has worked in the past and those are you own files.
Make sure your files arent hidden by going to folder and search options > view > Show hidden files or folders

If this doesnt work the only thing that i can think of is using data recovery software like recover my files which should be able to find the files on the disk even the disk has been corrupted.

Show hidden stuff as cartera suggests.

Also, fyi... even Admin doesn't default rights to see inside the System Volume Information folder (and so will always tell you size= 0)

Take ownership of System Volume Information folder.

    See if that helps...

Did you actually have files on their that are now lost? As running chkdsk is an option but i'd advise you try running a data recovery tool before it.

So try the show hidden and taking ownership.. and see if that reveals anything.. then can try something else
