So I have an IBM X21, I installed xp from the HD, and when I turn my computer on the HD(which is an old 12GB made in 2000) is completely ignored, I can hear it spinning but the bios does not recognize it, it tries to boot and says OS not found. -BUT- If I turn on my computer go into the bios by pressing F1 and then just quickly press F10 to save and exit the bios, then and only then does the hard drive get recognized and it boots to XP normally. Does anyone know what is going on here? Im going to try a new hard drive today, and if that dosen't work I will try reflashing the bios, and there is no newer version of the bios than the one I already have, but I am going to try to re flash maybe its a bug in the bios or something. Thanks for any help.

    Hi,

Set the hard drive to slave, the CD usually gets to boot first as it's normally master.

If you got a new laptop don't use any older HDD for it... Stick with new types otherwise you'll have problems..
