My laptop keeps freezing or restarting itself

    The title pretty much explains it, and I have no clue what to do. I'm not a pro at working with computers, but I just don't have the money to go and get my laptop fixed.

    Problems:
    -locking up soon after I turn it on
    -restarting repeatedly
    -was saying it found new hardware 'IEEE 1394'

    I tried deleting the microcode update device because it was showing an error, but the problems still persist. What should I do?

    Have you check to see if the fan is turning on when you start up?

    Also try running hard drive test. you can find the test as follows

    TechSpot OpenBoards > Hardware > Storage and Networking
    Drive diagnostic utilities compendium

    you can use one of those or try the computers on board diagnostics.
