"my network places" in start menu and GUIDANCE NEEDED

I would like to know why the MY NETWORK PLACES link is in the start menu on some computers and not on others?

I always assumed once you created a small home/office network it would show up.... I do not think this is the case since I have a pc on my network that lacks this shortcut.

That same pc is giving me error reports SPOOLER SUBSYSTEM APP.... blah blah blah...

To top it off, that same pc is not accessible by my other computers on the network.

the "problem pc" can be seen but not accessed
the "problem pc" cannot see any other pc on the network.
all other connections on the network are visable and working.

any help would be greatly appreciated

needed info?

4 desktops wired
1 laptop wireless
all XP Pro
using Linksys WRT54G (wired & wireless mode)
wep disabled

easy enough.... so what's going on.... ????

My Network Places is only in the start menu if u are not running classic view in the toolbar properties. If you use classic view in the start menu, my computer, network places & recycle bin, etc is on your desktop.

Is that what u meant? :knock:
