  1. When I access the My Pictures folder I receive the message "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. etc." I can manipulate the photos in Photoshop or Microsoft Office Picture Manager. The subfolders list and then as it lists the individual photos, I receive the message and it closes down. I have the view as list or details, not icons or thumbnails. This doesn't happen with any other folder. Windows XP. Help, thanks

Remove and replace the software. It will not remove the pictures.
Consider a search for whatever is causing the corrupted files... inadequate memory, infestation? incompletely defragmented file.

Are there any other problems on the computer beside the My Pictures folder.

Or switch to the terrific Gimp, Picasa, Adobe PhotoElements, or other photo editing software such as Serif Photoplace, Photo Impression, Photo Studio, Foto Finish Suite, ACDSee Photoshow, ULead Photo Impact, Corel Paintshop Pro... there are so many good ones.
