My sound isnt working, please help me! :]

so i was adding/removing applications on my laptop for space. and after i relezed my sound wasnt working. so i clicked to turn the sound up and a message boxed said:

"there are no active mixer devices available. to install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware.
This program will now close."

i went to add new hardware and i do not know what to click. i did not see mixer devices that i can recall.
can anyone help me please?! i really need my sound!

What is the brand and model of your laptop?

acer, aspire3620

google for sound driver for acer, aspire3620 or look for the cd that came with laptop and install the sound drivers again
it seems sound drivers have been messed up

okay so i downloaded it.
[windows XP]

it saved to my documents as a compressed/ziped or something like that folder.
now what?

do i right clck and select extract all?

Extract the contents to your Desktop, open the folder it extracts, and double click on Setup.
