Yes there is a switch that puts the laptop to sleep or into hibernation when the top is closed. This switch will not activate when the laptop is tilted

Take the laptop in to a computer service center. You would have to disassemble the top cover and remove the switch cover around the top cover hinges. It is very easy to break something doing this, if you have never done something like this before
