Need help on Lan games

  1. Hello guys...im kinda new here...heres my prob....when i connected my laptop and my pc via lan cable(both are windows XP) i tried to play warcraft and sacred on lan....when i insert the lan cable both the laptop and pc has the local area connection...but when i go in the game in and put play on lan...its like im not connected..i cant see the other player.....well this is my prob really hope someone can help me out here...thx!

    Are you using the required cross over cable?

    ermm...im not sure...im just using the cable that i use for my broadband connection....

    Well there is your problem. When directly connecting two PCs you will need a crossover cable. Its just a Ethernet cable, that has a diferent wiringing configuration. Your local hardware shop im sure has one.

    Ah, I hate to intrude but I have a question on the same subject. If I run the ethernet coming from my comcast modem into a linksys router, and then link 2 PCs to the router, will they both have internet access and be able to play LAn games against eacother?
