Need help restoring system recovery files

  1. I recently did a clean install of Windows 7. I backed up all my files on a Seagate FreeAgent external drive, but now I can't figure out how to restore those files. I opened a file (on the external drive) called "MINWINPC" and found a file labeled "backup files." When I double-clicked that file, it moved the backup files to my hard drive under the name "system recovery files." However, when I open the "backup and restore" in the control panel, it tells me that "windows could not find a backup on this computer." Anybody got any ideas?

Update: I ended up just copying the files manually to the corresponding folders in my USER file--seems to have worked ok.
