most games @ 1900x1200 you will be able to with the 4870 or the 4890.....and no such thing as future proof, if get one of those the DX11 cards come out in a few weeks. you need to determine what is important to you...and go with it :)

Well, I am sure their launch price will be awful.:suspiciou Right?

early indications (leaks) are that they will start at $280 and run through $600. but if you do want to wait, they said they would be mass produced by the end of October- early November. there will be a few rounds of price adjustments between Nvidia and ATI which will bring the price down somewhat...but yes, its would be more of an investment than a DX10 card

Ok sounds great. Are there major improvements in the DX11 compared to DX10.1?

Are there any places I could read articles about DX11? I don't find useful info on google.

    5. PNY 9800GT 1GB - $147

Is gigabyte HD 4850 1GB better than asus HD 4850 1GB?

Do you have Sapphire or HIS available? They would be the best choices for Radeon cards. Also XFX.

Nope, I only have asus and gigabyte.

Either is great, unless one of them has a better cooling solution than the other, in which case that one would be the one to buy.
  14. Jawshh TechSpot Enthusiast Posts: 438

Yes that's what's confusing me. Look at the screenshots. The gigabyte one has a cooling called Multi-core and the asus has a fan over a heatsink.
  15. Ritwik7 TechSpot Chancellor Posts: 2,281   +6

Though both will use air from inside your case for cooling, the performance of the cooler without the fan will be more dependent on case air temperature.

    Ok thanx all.

    Hey again,

I think tomorrow I am going to buy my parts. I already have the cpu and RAM. Tomorrow I am going to buy:

    Coolermaster CM690 casing,

    Topower Silentcool 600W PSU

    A 770 chipset gigabyte mobo,

    Xigmatek Dark Knight Cpu Cooler.

As for the video card, There is a 9600GT 1GB which is at only $65, if I get that instead of the 4850 1GB, will there be much performance loss?

And, is the above setup good?

    Thanx.

There will be a massive performance loss. The HD4850 is comparable to the GeForce 9800GTX.

The CM690 is a very nice case. I own that myself and love it.

Which processor and RAM did you pick?
  19. Jawshh TechSpot Enthusiast Posts: 438

Ok i'll get the HD 4850 then.

I bought OCZ gold PC2-5400, the Reaper series are too much over budget. And cpu AMD phenom II X2 550.

I had something in mind though. I was planning to buy a radeon 5000 series for christmas. Should I buy the 9600GT for now or the HD 4850 will do just fine?

Will I be able to game much on these specs?

If you're buying the Radeon HD 5850 / 5870 in December then you may go for the 9600GT. But only if it's much cheaper than the HD 4850.

With the HD 4850 and the other components you mentioned you'll be able to play all new titles fine enough. :)
