Hi, I have an old ECS ELITEGROUP P4VXMS mobo and would like to know what would be a good choice for something new. This is a very old computer and I don't have the case info. It has a Pentium 4 1.4 Ghz and 512 of RAM. Need more speed

If you're looking for a cheap upgrade this is likely your best bet:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135060
It's only $50 ($40 after rebate) includes a cpu and motherboard will be faster than your old set up, and as long as your ram is DDR it will work just fine (you may want to add some more ram)

$33 for a gig with your current 512 you will have 1.5 GB.
That motherboard/cpu combo does not include a cpu cooler so you will need to buy one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106122
This will do the trick for $12
Total Motherboard, GPU, cooler, and RAM: $95 ($85 after rebate) before shipping

If you have more to spend:
something like this would be even faster

$73 pentium Dual Core (includes cpu cooler)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128357
$53 motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820609283
$21 2GB DDR2 800 ram
Total: $147 before shipping

With any kind of cpu/motherboard upgrade you need to make sure your current power supply can handle the load (cheeck the sticker on it to see the specs and if it's less than 300w you should replace it)
If you need a new one this is a great option for a standard system (any of the configs. I recomended fall into this catigory)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151055
$38 (made by seasonic one of the best power supply makers around)

What is the purpose of the computer? Hard to make suggestions on hardware without knowing what you want to do with it and your budget.

Answers could range from a new Via Nano system to just spending $15 on a cheap mid tower case and not limiting yourself to a Micro ATX case.
