    Hi
I have network my 2 computers through a router but I cannot transfer files between my 2 pcs if one of them is off. Is there any thing that I have done wrongly?

    Thanks

Both machines need to be on if you want to transfer any data between them.

You can't transfer data to and from a computer that does not have the power on. Some motherboards and compatible network cards do provide a "wake on LAN" feature but generally speaking for 2 machines to communicate, both of them have to be switched on and have a network aware operating systems booted.

Oh, is that what Wake on Lan means? You can connect to the computer with it off?? Or just that the computer's LAN card has power when the computer is not turned on?

Computer starts up when it recieves a signal from the LAN, thats what I always guessed it was...
