Networking 2 wireless computers

I did a search on this on the board, and the dates were pretty old for info. So, can anyone walk me through networking two computers, one PC with Vista, and a new laptop with 7? I'm pretty saavy, but not a good as most of you so I sort of need a more layman's language. Also, my Western Digital external drive is recognized in the PC, but the new laptop won't recognize. Do I need to install drivers in the laptop? Ports work with the thumb drive and dongle.

Basically follow the new wireless router instructions.
Insert CD
Then go from there.
Every manufacturer going to have different setups
The CD will tell you what to do in setting up the router.
Then you'll need to let those two computers connect to the router either wired or wirelesss
Wireless one would need to know SSID name of your wireless connection and the passcode password. Or you might be better off using WPS to make it easier for you. Just follow your CD.
