New computer will not boot the os already on it

    I just built a new pc. I put my old hard drive back in it. but now it will no boot up windows. it is an ata hd, it came out of my old compaq. the message reads "system installed on that partition" theres's nothing on the bios page to check the partition. any help would be appreciated.

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

    You computer won`t boot into Windows, because you old hard drive will still have the old chipset drivers for the old mobo on it.

    At the very least you will need to do a Windows repair. See HERE.

    If that doesn`t solve your problem, then a reformat, and reinstall might be necessary.
