My super small town ISP just set up fiber internet in my apartment. Ever since I was young I was using standard Cable hooked up to my modem which in turn was hooked up to my Google WiFi.
I am running into a problem though. I don't understand what my ISP did. I am new to the fiber game and don't understand the set up I was given whatsoever.
They set up a "switch" on the outside of my apartment which in turn led to a plug sitting inside my apartment. They ran a fiber cable out of that plug into a gateway. An iphotonix Model:7453G. Only 1 of the 4 Ethernet ports work on it. So I now have an ethernet cable running from the one ethernet port to my Google Wi-Fi node.
But my main problem is I can't log into the gateway and change any settings. I tried time and time again and it just isn't recognizing even being plugged into my computer. I'm now running into double NAT issues where it's impeding my gaming experience.
I don't know what I can get that can mimic my experience of having a modem that just plugs directly into my router? It seems so much simpler just to have the one modem plugged into my router which then in turn did all the processing and workload. But I'm not finding any help online regarding this issue.
There's so much to cover that I probable forgot something. Any help would be appreciated.
