New HD in Sony VAIO

I recently installed a WD Caviar SE 160 GB Hard Drive into my 6 year old Sony Vaio PCV-RX560. I removed the shunt per the directions for a single drive and the BIOS for the hard Drive is on auto. I was able to utilize the orig. system recovery software to reinstall XP home. My problem is this: according to the properties option for the C drive, the size of the hard drive installed is 8GB. I believe this is a minimum defaultsize. Does anyone know what to do to fully utilize the new 160GBHD. I hope this makes sense - My computer skills are, to say the least, lacking.

You probably just need to perform a BIOS update.

Out of curiosity what operating system and file structure are you using?
