New system E8400 running at 92 Celsius and shuts down when istalling Vista

Hi

I've built a new system for myself and for some reason it shuts down when I try to install Vista. I noticed that in the bios settings that the CPU is running at 92 Celsius, maybe that's causing the problem?

I tried re-seat the heatsink but that didn't work, it's still running at 92 Celsius although I didn't try installing Vista after that. Does bios tell the true CPU temperature?

Will I have to buy a new heatsink? But why isn't the original one working?

Thanks

Sounds like your heatsink isn't on properly. It should be completely firm and not shake, wobble or jingle in any way.
Next it could be because you have no thermal compound on, so the heat isn't transferring correctly, but if you bought a brand new processor & heatsink, it comes with stuff pre-installed on the bottom.
