New Win 7 64-bit won't connect to my Internet

  1. I just received a Dell N5110 with i3 2310 @ 2.1 GHz ,4 gb ram and it just will not connect to my dsl modem/router. I have had this problem before where a friend of mine's laptop that ran 7 wouldn't connect. I did have MAC filtering enabled on the and before connecting i removed it yet still it would not connect.

    Please Help!

    Hey buddy,

Are you trying to use wireless or cable?
Ipconfig in command prompt, are you getting an IP address?
Check device manager, devices for WiFi card/Lan adapter ok?
    Try reinstalling drivers for both.
Test in Safe Mode with networking to see if it's firewall/AV potentially.

    Some places to start.

I also had some issue recently and turned out it was because my windows activation hadn't worked correctly and some windows updates failed and gave me problems connecting to the internet. Once I performed the phone assisted re-activation it started working again. Just a thought especially as it is a new machine and may not have had the windows install activated? ;)
